Your first 6 months

Music and Mess...
What was your first six months like when you started your channel? What did you achieve, what frustrations did you hit, did you meet any goals?

Asking, because we've been active now for 6 months so I thought it would be interesting to trade stories :)

Well... Other than myself, the members of my channel changed three times in the timespan of 6 months xD

It was kinda of one of those things that seemed like a good idea at first but a friend who was with the channel originally quickly found out it actually takes effort.

Actually adding to that I remember the first 6 months was a mess of 20 videos in one week with no videos for the next month kind of scenario. Took about all of that time to find a niche that suited the channel and develop some constant-ish upload schedule.

First i worked on my commentary, trying to speak louder and clearer. I felt i got more comfortable within the first 3 months, and the next step was to add a facecam to my videos. I think it've done it for 2 months now and feel comfortable enough to make silly faces and stuff and just be me. I still have a month to go to the 6 month mark. I never really set any goals, the only one i was kinda thinking was that it would be cool to hit 1k for Christmas. But so far i like working on my own confidence and it shows in my personal life, so thats great!

I can't recall 100% the details b/c it's been quite a while but I do know that the progress was pretty slow. I'd say roughly 80-90 subs within that time frame.

I found myself checking my sub count to much and this was a negative thing, if i lost a subscriber i would get upset and wonder why, Now I worry less and just upload what i enjoy :)

I had a different channel before my current one and i used to make remixes back then. And one of the videos went viral after like a week and i got half a million views and i didn't even know about such thing as youtube partnerships and being able to earn back then. But then youtube took the video down and deleted it as i didn't own the accapella part of my remix and i guess all those views made them aware of my video. That was like my first experience of some sort of success. Now that i been uploading my own produced music on my channel its constantly at the back of my head ''man if i could just get this viral like back then'' and it gets discouraging sometimes cuz i think that was once in a lifetime luck for me.

I was going to run the animal shelter channel with another volunteer, but she had stuff come up in life and couldn't do it. She had the YouTube experience. Because she wasn't there to discuss ideas, it was kind of difficult. Finding YTalk definitely helped as a newbie with lots of questions.
