I 100% agree.
I started by using the stuff I had - my iPhone and imovie.
I then purchased a tripod and an iPhone tripod mount, for a few pounds from eBay.
Next I purchased a lapel mic and iPhone mic adapter - again pretty cheap.
As my channel began to grow, along with the income, I then decided to invest in a decent DSLR to record videos, as well as for general use taking pics of the family etc.
Even now I don't have any special studio, or any lighting etc. Don't feel I need it for the moment
Start with what you have. Remember some of the videos that have gone viral have been from cheap camera phones with poor quality blocky video. It's content rather then quality!
