Would Long-Form or Short-Form Walkthroughs Work Better?

So I have completed the original 3 Spyro games to death, as well as A Hero's Tail, and I know pretty much everything there is to know about those games. I have done Spyro content before and no matter how old the games are they have always been some of my more popular videos, so that's not an issue. In fact what I am curious about is whether or not to do longer or shorter videos.

For example, I could do the entire Artisans world in 1 video from Spyro 1, or I could just do it over an hour and see how much I do, or I could do Stone Hill as its own video, then Dark Hollow etc. The benefit to long form is being able to just sit back and watch it, however I think that maybe having a video for each level might be better for Walkthroughs as you can pick a particular level you are stuck on very easily, although this would lead to large variants in video length.

What I'm asking is basically, do you think the long format would work better as more of a "lie back and watch" type series, or should I do it with each level, and just accept that videos might end up being 5-20 minutes long?

When I look for a walkthrough, I try to find one that is for the specific area I'm stuck on, so I would say a level per video would be a better choice.

I would do shorter videos of each level because when people are getting stuck in a game, they would search for the particular part of the game that they are at. I used to do walkthroughs back in 2007, and I found that about 10 minutes is a good time to strive for. Also I think my audience appreciated it because it was very consistant! Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Yeah, I've done a couple of walkthroughs in the past, but they never really got any attention so I never got many conclusive stats, however now I get pretty consistent viewership it can give me a bit more of an indication, thanks!

You're welcome!

I always prefer short-lenght videos over longer ones, and as somebody said, a walkthrough is looked usually for a single part of a single level, so go with the single stage approach
On a side note, shorter videos produce more money tht longer ones, if I recall correctly

Seems like there's a general agreement here, thanks I appreciate the help!

welcome! BTW: you should save the long form stuff for a live stream on twitch. :)
That's generally what I do, but believe it or not one of the most popular videos on an old channel of mine is an hour long, people love a long video if its the right game for it!
