Would consistency help bring my channel back from "the dead"?

Hey all, so as some of you may know from my postings, I've been here for about 2 years and only now have reached 450+ subs and my views aren't increasing either. Back when I first started and was very consistent (at least once a week) I would be getting hundreds of views per video increasing to the thousands count. However, after having gone MIA for a few weeks at a time due to health issues, as I'm finally fully recovered now, I realize so many of my recent postings struggle to reach even 100 views.

Would consistency help my view counts and help to bring my channel back to life and on the road to 1000 subs and more?

Would diversifying my content a bit help as well? For example, perhaps ranting about a topic that I'm passionate about for one week, and then a typical youtuber vlog, then a challenge video, etc.

Thanks XD I just hope I can get my channel back on the right track cuz the way it is rn is quite discouraging :P

I believe it would. Cause I plan on doing the same thing with an old gaming channel of mine in the far future. Which has over 600 subs on it.
But I'd post a channel update and completely revamp (meaning completely go from old quality to really high quality video, thumbnails, banners, etc.) the channel. Making it 10 times better then it use to be. Sure a lot of the subscribers will be inactive or gone but it would be better then starting over completely. Just keep putting in the good work and results will come. =]

Consistency is a big key to success, for example, i´m inconsistent as hell, and the views are lacking because of it! You might tell me to be consistent, but I usually get ideas on the spot, and that makes me inconsistent!
Quality and consistency is the biggest keys to success!

Consistency is the #1 piece of advice every YouTube-generated article and large YouTube channel says helps, and it seems to be the biggest obstacle for struggling channels. While uploading consistently (and with a consistent channel focus in terms of content) isn't guaranteed to make your channel grow, it seems the likeliest thing to help as a piece of advice.

Oh do I feel a similar pain to you. Consistency is literally everything when it comes to being a content creator. What reason does somebody have to come back to your channel if you never upload? And even if you don't upload for an extended amount of time, at least the people following will know that the way your channels schedule works, is the reason a video takes so long. If you are vlogging then you really would need to be getting 2-3 videos per week out of high quality because it is such an over saturated niche. By stopping even for a week, you will end up hurting all your progress because other vloggers have kept up their consistency. YouTube is not a hostile place but it still works like a business and if someone has the opportunity to take hold of somebody's audience, they will do that because growth means everything on the website. I personally struggle big time with consistency but I know thats my only one issue and i went from getting tens of thousands of views on videos to less then 100 because I did exactly what you did. What I would recommend is go back to a schedule and stick to it and you will absolutely grab back the attention of an audience over time. Its all about how good you are at controlling the workflow you are in :)

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news. But it will most likely not do much more than you have achieved in the past. And consistency also brings something else to the mix; Stress. The need to produce a video every week. I myself stepped away from that, and views / subscriber gains have leveled out after the great downturn of 2016. Sure, they are stagnant, but that's OK for me. Some videos don't do as good as others do. But I still get decent views on the stuff I upload with limited consistency.

My advice would be build up you content then do a week of videos back to back (obviously in the mean time make your weekly content) this week of videos will remind people that you exist and also you have more chances to wow your audience and build up! Best of luck to you!

That's actually not a bad idea. Do you think mixing up a variety in my content and updating the channel a bit would help too?

Well I mean you do also have thousands of subs that I don't have haha, but yeah I get what you mean. Perhaps trying to find new avenues of gaining new subscribers could work?
