Worst YT advice you've received?

As someone who has been small for many years, I don't understand why anyone would sub 4 sub... It just looks desperate. Worst advice I had received was from myself... I told myself to just film when I felt like it, and not to force it. I wish I forced my self to vlog. I'd have more memories to watch.

Vlogging is quite awkward. But I agree it brings so manny memories. I thought it was really awkward during my trip in Milan, and still think it is. But it brings so manny good memories. I have a hard time editing it, but I can remember every shot of it.

One day I uploaded a video of my dog playing with the hoover and it quite a lot of views. Someone told me I should stopping gaming and make more dog videos. I'm finally gaining subs and I'm doing what I love. If I had taken the advice, I wouldn't be where I'am now and I probably wouldn't be enjoying it so much either!!

I was told (can't remember for the life of me by who) when I was first getting into YouTube to put SEO in the title of my video file. It was basically the YouTube equivalent of those stupid rituals people did to get a snow day from school.

Quanity over quality. I was told once that if you upload hundreds of videos 1 of them is bound to become viral. What a load of rubbish lol

Outside of sub4sub...

Has to be this. I'm living proof of it. My channel has ~4000 videos on it. This doesn't work at all. Focus on making better content and try to upload regularly. That was when I started noticing gains.

One of the first guides I read in 2015 recommended asking for 'ratings' on each video (remember the old star system?). That same guide pushed the idea that the best way to get quick views was to make response videos (also an outdated youtube feature).

Watsup guys, I've heard some excellent information and advice from this website, but now out of curiosity, I'd like to know what's the silliest advice you've heard?

My two favourites are when successful youtubers give a infant channel advice such as "Reply to all comments" I'm lucky when I get two comments, obviously I'm going to reply :/ Lmao.

And another example: "Don't accept sponsorship if you don't believe in the product. This would be useful if I was ever offered a sponsor lol!
To give up my channel.
