Will this strategy work?

Hello YTtalk,

I have been meaning to find out how useful this strategy is. So basically, I am the typical new youtuber getting less than 4 views a day. I have 8 videos now. I am planning to upload more (and substantially better) videos. When I do upload better quality videos I am thinking of advertising the best video of my channel using Youtube Ads ( the official ads by youtube).

I am thinking of putting in $30 for this. They promise 250 to 2000 views for $10 a day and I would advertise for 3 days. I think this would give a much needed boost for my channel. I might even get double digit views everyday after the three days.

What do you guys think about it? Would this be viable? Any alternatives?

I wouldn't be so optimistic about advertising it through Youtube Adds, but we need some of those maybe who already tested this method to put a word on this.

I haven't ever used YT ads before but to be honest I think it will be best to just be patient with your channel, don't worry you will grow over time if your content is good :).

Here's the problem with YouTube ads. I ran a couple of tests. YouTube will deliver views at the rate they promised. Depending on who you're targeting .01-.02 per view. So for each $1 you spend you can get about 100 views. But, unfortunately the views don't do anything for you. Yes, it will boost your view count, but they don't convert to subscribers. Each $50 you spend will get you 5,000 views but maybe only 1 sub. Of course you're not paid for the views because you're running as an add. And because you don't add subs I just don't think it's worth it. One could make an argument that if you have a super compelling video that will get you subs that's it's worth it to kinda get the momentum, but the problem I found is that you just don't get the subs you hope for, or more specifically that your cost to acquire subs this way is not worth it. It would take hundreds of thousands of dollars to get your channel to a few thousand subs. I think you're much better off taking that $30 and seeing if you can get a big YouTuber who does similar video to do a shout out, or using it to hire a designer to clean up your channel art and thumbnails. Anyway, hope that helps and good luck with your channel!

Thanks for the reply. That is a very good analysis, I like that. Would the views at least get up on youtube's radar? I mean, if I get more views with high retention, would youtube atleast promote me more. Like popping more in search and more people getting my channel as recommendation ( I know SEO is important)?

Thanks for the reply. That is indeed true. But I just wanted to find out if I can speed up the process LOL ;)

You know, anecdotally I would say yes it would help with SEO. The reason I say that is that Google as a company tends to reward advertisers. If you have a website and you're running an adwords campaign pointed towards that website domain, google boosts your page rank by 1. So if your sight had a page rank of 3 it's now a 4, it it was a six, it's now a 7, etc. I've never seen anything that says YouTube does the same thing, but they're owned by Google so it wouldn't suprise me. It kinda makes sense. They want to see their advertisers be succesfull so I wouldn't be shocked at all if behind the scenes their algorithm is taking whose advertising into account in their organic search results.

This is really good info and makes perfect sense even if anyone hasn't confirmed it! Thank you!!

Yup that does make sense.... I guess Ill try $10 or so and see how that is going. But I still gotta upload a few more vids for that. Thank you all for the replies

I'm not sure since I never have tried it myself. But I can tell you that I found out about Matthew Santoro through a YouTube advertisement.
