I used a Audio Technica ATR-3350 lapel mic when I had my T5i - in fact I still use it with my new camera now!
Its cheap, and gives great audio. Just plug it into the side of your camera and thats it, nothing else to mess around with at all!
Im also going to buy the Rode VideoMic Pro as a shotgun mic for when I need to use it - should also pretty much be plug and play at the +20db setting.
