I think if you have good intentions and you're not trying to sound like a know-it-all forcing your view on others, people will not be offended. I believe people use the 'Everyone will be butthurt, just ignore them!' excuse to justify being offensive but odds are if you're getting a negative reaction there is something in your content that needs to be worked on.

If it's a chance you want to take and you're sure that you're capable of tackling a sensitive topic with care and that people may not agree with you - go for it!

I agree to a point. If you make fair and honest points about offensive topics you are likely to get MOSTLY good feedback. But there WILL be people still who get offended and act like jerks just because of the topic itself, I mean... I ran Symph Controversy for a year, not sure how many of those videos you saw but they were all honest and I tried to be fair and present myself in a calm and sensitive manner, and I still got some people saying things like "UGGGGGHHHH YOU'RE SUCH A f*****g RETARD!!! DIE YOU BIGGOTED CREATIONIST ASSHOLEEEEE!!!!!" So I mean, they'll show up regardless, but it is true that if you speak correctly you're gonna get MORE support than hate.
 
With pretty much any "will people be offended with this" question, the answer is yes. There's less of a "are you willing to take the chance?" question so much as a guarantee that you'll be taking some heat. Even if people miraculously don't get heated towards you, they'll take it up against each other in the comments.

I think one of the most important things to mention is that it is a very complicated situation and that there are not any simple solutions. That does a lot to make someone sound less biased, though no matter what you do people some people will accuse you of a thousand different offenses.

So... yeah. Take it up if you want, just know that it will definitely get a bit stressful.
