will my gaming channel get hit with copyright infringement?

Be careful with trailers (and, to a lesser extent, cut scenes).

There is a chance they will be picked up by Content ID and 3rd party claimed (they will receive money from ads, not you).

It won't be a pure port of the trailer/cut scene. It will be me importing the trailers into premiere. Editing them, adding graphics/screens and commentary. I want to make it like a newscast

You could resize, remove either the audio or video, or add overlays, but there is still a chance Content ID will match it.

Definitely true. One of our older videos we did a countdown of sorts and used footage with a sort of 'bounding box' around it. It was still claimed by the ID system.

So what happened? Did it get taken down? Did you get in trouble? Did you lose your goodstanding?

So what should I do

You (more than likely) simply get a message saying that it's been claimed by a 3rd party and they enable monetization on it… so any money that comes in from ads now goes to them.

A 3rd party claim is not a strike and it doesn't effect your standing in YouTube.

What would you suggest my game plan be then? If I am going to be doing a newscast

I'd suggest the same thing I suggest to everyone - don't use any audio or video that you either didn't create yourself or have the rights to use.

Gameplay is user created (at least according to the game companies who allow it). Trailers and cut scenes are not user created so there is more of a risk there…and Content ID is notorious for finding things.
