why you shouldn't join a Network

No value if you're small, but if you're big, oh man. Big sign up bonus, 100/0 split, one on one support w/ managers, premium ads, managed status, and the list goes on. On top of that, you can add your official YouTube manager and you're pretty much set.

So what's the benefit to them with a 0% revenue share? Sure a big channel will bring some traffic to the MCN and their other channels, but I don't see how they will give you 1-on-1 with account managers for nothing (unless they are volunteering and doesn't get paid, but even then there are still overheads).

Premium ads = profits.
Bigger guys attract smaller guys = profits.
If the big guy is dumb and doesn't negotiate, or agree to bad terms = big profits.

MCN's only need a handful of really popular channels. Proper marketing with well-negotiated contracts can do wonders.

Heard about Freedom? Their workforce is based in the Philippines and the country's average mothly wage is ~300usd? Or was it even less?

Interesting. Makes sense. So what is "big", how many monthly view or subs?
Definitely heard of Freedom.
Very familiar with Asian workforce practices, I have worked in Asia for over 15 years in IT/Telcos. Good choice Philippines - good knowledge of English and Americanized culture, less barriers than say Vietnam or Thailand, not as expensive as Singapore, not as corrupt as Indonesia or Cambodia and Laos.

I wouldnt say people shouldnt join networks - for example mine gives me much more benefits than I lose by splitting the cash pot :) But people souldnt jump in gung-ho into the network with lock-in. The best network, for newbie, is one with no lock-in or at most 30 days unlink period. You never know what will happen :)
