Why to post in 1080p

Yeah it does, I guess most well known Youtuber's will upload in 1080p. ImAnderZEL has a decent gaming channel, he uploads in 1440p :eeks: His internet must be God-like.
Some of my videos are in 1440p :D (I upload from my school :giggle:)

It also depends on the video. If you are vlogging or making short films, 720p is acceptable, but for gaming, animation, etc it should be 1080p, because lower resolution is more noticeable.

Hehe, I might try uploading from my college  It can be noticeable, but I could upload in 1080p from home, I would. I live in the middle of nowhere in the UK. :help:

I'm contemplating recording in 720p at 60fps (in case I want to do slow mo) and around 7mbps as well as uploading in 720p and 5mbps exported (so I save bandwidth and HDD space A LOT). I've noticed Pewds uploads in 720p only and Markiplier does too and even Nanners. And I can no longer sit around waiting for exporting and uploading, especially in this summer heat, uploading overnight when I don't have air con at all isn't going to be nice to deal with as this PC contributes to the heat in my room. Most people tend to just view the video in the standard windows as well, I mean I don't even bother watching the bigger YouTubers in anything higher than 480p myself. On my 75kb/s upstream it's just getting annoying to upload + it's the quality of the commentary (personality wise and audio wise) that matters the most to me when I'm watching stuff. As long as the gameplay doesn't look like a complete blur I don't mind and I doubt many other viewers do now days. On the other hand Let's Plays can be very long, so I usually avoid watching them in 720p+. Shorter videos I might watch in 720p+.

Funny thing is, for vlogs, I would expect higher resolutions lol but that's just me. I guess I feel that real pictures should be of higher quality vs cartoon/gameplay for some reason.

Yeah it's true, most days I can't even watch videos at 720p due to my internet which is 86% worse than everyone else in the UK :crying: , When uploading I have to devote a whole night to it, and my computer being about 2m from my bed it gets pretty frustrating. Plus recording at 720p saves space like you said and reduces rendering times.

Technically youtube caps the fps at 30fps anyways so there really is not much difference in quality between 1080 and 720 because you can only have a bitrate of 6k on 720 and 8k on 1080. That is very little difference. There is some difference, but why not just upload in 720p because its faster. Also, I agree, most people would watch a youtube in 720 rather than 1080.

YouTube caps the framerate but not necessarily the resolution and clarity. I started uploading 1080p and the difference is noticeable, especially when going full screen. It's mostly in the smaller details but there is a difference.

No matter how much YouTube compresses, if you can upload in the highest quality possible, then do it. It only helps keep your video looking good after YT gets its hands on it.

I couldn't agree more. I was just looking at it from a different way. Although, I try and upload all of my videos in 1080.

When viewers comment on how sharp it looks, then you know you're doing something right.

Watching videos on YT at the various resolutions, on my 1600x900 screen, I can only say that 720 looks pretty damn ordinary.

Despite the fact I can buffer 1080, I tend to only watch videos in 720 :L I dunno why, that's why I only render 720p myself :) I have noticed a lot of youtubers only do 720
