I would stick with what is getting you views right now but incorporate both into the videos. You mention iOS gaming channel which makes me think about my channel and what I post because I do an Android game that is on iOS as well. I don't advertise which platform I am on, and I believe that's given me a bigger market to go after. Do what is working for now, and after you have gained a bit of an audience then you have more flexibility towards what you post.
I know posting tutorials and/or informational based videos are what drives my channel; however, without adding in the entertainment part, I wouldn't be where I am now. I follow a model of teach while entertaining. That model has become my brand in my niche market of YouTube instead of being the Android source for game play videos on the game I post on.
Every situation is different, but your goal should be to gain as much of your niche market as possible. YouTube is a niche market place where viewers can find information and entertainment on exactly what they are looking for. The extra views on certain videos are probably due to you leading viewers to your channel through a particular niche of YouTube. Find what it is and you'll grow.
