So I was wondering, why are there so many gaming channels? I have nothing against it, in fact I would love to do it at least once in the future (gaming commentary I mean). But I have noticed that on a lot of forums and even on Yttalk there are a LOT of gaming channels.

So I want to ask, why do you have a gaming channel? If you weren't gaming on Youtube, would you do something else? And what do you think makes you different from all the other gaming channel's out there?

My channel's a vlog and gaming channel (although I do more gaming) and I do both cause I find them both enjoyable to make. I also like making comedy sketch type vids as well but I'm too lazy to write scripts n' stuff
Why do I like to make gaming videos? I don't know I just like to record my reactions to video games and stuff I guess? Yeah...and games are fun to play :p
If I wasn't a (vlog)gaming channel I would prob be a vlogging channel. with lotsa jumpcuts of course :p
I'm different cause...idk I try to keep my gaming videos short (my own attention span is really short so I try to keep it at lengths at which I would watch the video). I make montages (whoa so original) and also these things called challenge gaming videos (idk if it's original but I try to keep my channel unique.) I don't do long let's plays/videos because I don't like watching those myself

1) Gaming channels are probably the easiest thing to do. Not a lot of editing required just kinda splitting it up if you do those kind of videos. Commentaries are somewhat simple if you can speak fluently and always have ideas up your sleeve. And it's just fun, playing games on your own is just boring (at least to me) but when you're sharing it with other people it just immediately comes out fun. I know that if I were to be playing modded survival on Minecraft without recording, I would've quit already. But since I know I'm sharing it with around 60 people every single upload it's just immediately so fun to do xD.
2) If I wasn't gaming on YouTube I'd probably do skits, but I'm not too fond of showing myself on YouTube so I'm not sure about that.
3) What makes me different, is probably my commentaries. Everyone who watches my videos say that my voice is perfect for commentating and that I don't shut up (which is the commentating world is a good thing :P) Along with my friends, who also say that I'm perfect for doing commentaries and gameplay.

Soo yeah that pretty much answers that, good thread, actually make me think for a bit :P

People play video games on youtube, because a vast amount of people play video games. Pretty much everyone plays video games, so it is easy to see why there would be an abundance of video game channels.

Nice answer man :-D Thanks for replying! That is interesting as well about how you make content that you yourself would like to watch. It's the best thing to do when posting content :-D

Nice answer man! Thanks for replying! I'm glad it made you think. I really want to know what the real reasons are behind why people make the content they do. Like if its just because they enjoy it, or because of another reason like how love sharing the experience with people! :-D

I do it because gaming has always been a passion of mine + I like to entertain people...or at least try to lol. I probably would do vlogs if gaming wasn't a thing on youtube.

I play games because I like to play them... If I did commentary, I'd probably just be cussing when someone kills me or scores against me and then talking to my dogs or something.

Nice man, thanks for replying! So do you think you would have never started gaming on youtube if there wasn't other people already doing it to inspire you? If that's the case, who is your favourite Youtube gamer? :-p

That's pretty much all I do to when I play games :-D
