Why playing recent games doesn't help your channel.

I Love YTtalk
So I just noticed that TheRadBrad and Tetraninja both have the beginning of Splinter Cell Blacklist on their channel and it wouldn't surprise me if they even start doing the whole game before it's the 22nd of August. I thought by buying and playing this game on my channel it would generate more traffic but if they can find the series early on some other popular Youtube channel, they're not gonna look for it elsewhere.

I seriously do not understand why publishers make these guys play the games so early. It has something to do with money most likely, or Machinima just has their ways of not following the rules.

Maybe the publishers don't do that. Maybe they got their game from a store that already has the games, but can't sell them legaly before 22nd. It's a shame that some people already have the game long before release :(

Hutch and Seananners were allowed to play it at some convention, The publishers let well known people play it so that its free advertising, They want people to see their favourite youtubers playing a game, and they want to play it too, so they buy it. Its good marketing.

That's not necessarily true, just because these two channels ( or more) are already going to be uploading videos earlier than everyone else doesn't mean there's no point in uploading the game yourself.

There's a ton of users on YouTube with different tastes, not everyone is going to know these two channels or even like them, so theres always a chance of generating SOME traffic towards your channel. Point is, You Never Know.

Just because Pewdiepie was the first person to upload a slender playthrough video, that didn't stop millions of people from making their own, even now.

Seems like only Ubisoft is doing this. Considering marketing, yeah, I guess it's a good throw at the gaming community for them wanting to play the game. If the game is good that is. :P

It basically is just marketing. If people see their favorite gaming YouTubers playing a game, then it might persuade them to get the game when it comes out. It just helps for better sales I believe.

Many people play the games as soon as they come out (or buy the beta) and put it out on their channel because it does often increase views on the videos if you upload them regularly. Say you if uploaded a bioshock infinite video when it first came out and got 100+ views if you uploaded the next one a week after you most likely will get 50+ views due to the fact other lets players would have already uploaded the content that people want to see.

Often publishers will give the game out before its release date because it helps them sell it more. They will give a game out to a youtuber with a big audience and other people will see the game and say 'Oh I want that game now' and then they will either pre-purchase or run off to get it at its release. Sadly youtube its becoming a marketing scheme for Publishers.
