Why money isn't a bad thing

This forum consists almost entirely of unsuccessful channels who strived to make it big and failed for one reason or another.
It's jealously and nothing else, one of the few reasons why i've called it quits here.

You have 500 teenagers who want to get rich making call of duty videos or vlogging.. What do you expect..
(Forgive me here, there are plenty of successful channels that have posted in these forums but very, very, very few of them are active anymore.. rightfully so)

People with successful YouTube channels spend their time on YouTube & their social networks, people with unsuccessful YouTube channels spend their time on YTtalk as they don't have an audience.. It's a sad reality but it's true and that is why you see so much hate towards successful people here.

I hate s**t successful channels, there's a lot of big successful channels that I don't hate on :) it's not hating on success it's hating on s**t :)

Thank you very much for this post, Tarmack. My brother and I are making our channel like a business. We hope to make money, but we gain satisfaction from the views themselves. Great post! :)

Ofcourse everybody is in it for the money. The ones who are not can prove that by not getting partnered or not monetizing their videos. But why would you do that if you can earn money with something you like to do? Considering kids asking questions on the forum, I would not say, do it or don't do it for the money. If they like making vids they'll keep doing it. If not, they'll be gone before you know it.

That's your opinion I suppose. I've been on this forum for only a couple days, but I've seen nothing but compassion and helpfulness from one member to the next. Perhaps some people are jealous of those who are successful, but that is human nature. I'm not condoning lashing out because of the jealousy, but it's an understandable feeling. However, as far as I can tell, nobody here seems to be opposing the idea of making money as you make your content. It's like a sweet cherry on top.

I will say that you're right that this forum is full of people who are currently considered "unsuccessful". However, I would never call them failed until they quit trying. But let's be honest, this forum is a better tool for newer youtubers than those who are already partnered and what not. Either you quit trying and fade out of the forum's existence, or you become 'successful' and have to rely less and less on the feedback of others on the forum, because you now have your own personal audience and network for that.

Making money on youtube is like the stock market, one day your on the top and nothing can touch you, the next your making a gaming channel even though you have never touched a controller in your life just to make up for lost views on your main channel. That last sentence was a dig at ijustine and Micheal Buckley, through there youtube success they got a taste of the good life. The good life cost's money and when your channel views are going down it's scale back on the lavish lifestyle or fight tooth and nail just to stay relevant for any views you can scrape.

To illustrate my point this is epic meal time, they where big, but by this chart its diminishing returns now.

I agree, going into it wanting money is still good! People create businesses to make money and go to work to make money.

To add my own experience to this, I recently met a local filmer/youtuber and she had a clear goal of reaching 500k subs and have an income generating channel. Her main thing was wanting to purchase filming gear and equipment as well as pay her extras and actors.

To me looking at your channel like it's a small start up venture is a great goal. To have it become stable enough were you can generate web series and pay actors is also a great goal too.

I definitely do not fault anyone that come into this looking to generate money, with the right business model, it's totally possible.

That's because people who aren't able to make money from YouTube are often jealous when they find out people make a ton of money "just for making videos." Yet those people are never willing to do it themselves.
