Why join networks?

I had networks send me emails trying to get me to join. I never associated networks with being able to monetize videos because it always just seemed like a standard YouTube feature to be able to do that. The only thing I ever associated with networks was them featuring and promoting your videos on their site and channel and social media, similar to a popular blogger featuring your video on their site. When I read the benefits and found out it had nothing to do with that and it was only a music library and video creator tools, I was like, "Why would I want that?"
