Why is Ray William Johnson not sued for copyright infringement?

He's using the content under the fair use act of "reviewing" the content. If he was to illegally distribute the content with no credit given and/ or gain monetization of it if a specific licence was needed, then he would be pulled.

For the love of God! Please, stop throwing that baby against the wall. Thank you. Now we can have a civilized discussion. The real question is, why would you expect a man who resorts to such tactics to adhere to the concept of "fair" in "fair use".

Just kidding Ray. check out my channel when you get a chance....Please.

Yeah... it all depends if one of the video owners finds out, doesn't like that they used their stuff without asking (or didn't like what he had to say) and demands he has it taken down, or files a complaint to Youtube. But with them being viral and this guy giving them even more views... I kinda doubt that will happen.[DOUBLEPOST=1391960648,1391960618][/DOUBLEPOST]

Wasn't it mentioned earlier that his stuff was monetized?

Aye, but its the same with people who review movies. They monetize content, but they review it so they are allowed. RWJ is using the same method. I meant if he wasn't using it under fair use and had it monetized, then he would be in trouble :-)

In regards to taking it down, anyone can do that with any video. Literally filing copyright claims with false intentions against anyone is easy nowadays on Youtube. I think because RWJ is so popular, he doesn't get affected by it as much. Like that Wrecking Ball Skype/omegle thing.

Considering that RWJ is retiring =3 later this year, is this discussion even still valid? I wish people would give it a rest. He's been doing this for *years* now. Clearly, Fair Use or no, YouTube has not seen fit to shut down his channel. We can argue about this until we're blue in the face, but seriously at this juncture, what's the point? Stop beating a dead horse already.

I'm also pretty conscious of the fact that Ray will be retiring from =3 later this year. But please note that I do not even remotely have any problem in him continuing his show. In fact, I'm actually disappointed when I heard this news since I enjoy this show so much. I just was wondering about the copyright stuff in Youtube. Anyways thank you very much for your reply.

Thanks to all others also for your contribution in this thread.
