Why I Hate That People Can Keep Subscriptions Private

I dunno, I just want it to be private. Everything I subscribe to may not be G-rated, lol.

Hmm...I guess this makes sense. I guess I'm looking at it from a different perspective. I use this channel to watch a couple videos by friends but that's about it. And I have another channel that I use for watching everything else. Then again, my channel was never very family friendly to begin with so it doesn't matter in my case. Haha

Other reasons that people might have is because they might not want to be harassed regarding controversial topics. Religion, sexuality, politics, etc.

I can understand that too.

It's much like having your friends on Facebook hidden. It's all about privacy.

That's still something that I don't understand. People have brought up good points. If you're a family friendly channel, then by all means keep your subscriptions private. If you're a content creator who wants to keep your religious and political subscriptions away from people, then go ahead and keep them private.
What I don't understand are the people who only watch videos. Your friends on facebook can tell people a lot of things about you. They can tell people where you live, where you grew up, the clubs you attended, where you work, and the schools you attended. Your subscriptions only tell people your interests in entertainment (although they can tell people controversial topics as well). The only reason you'd need to hide them in that case is if you're just self-conscious about people judging your tastes. That's a whole different can of worms though, so I'm not going to get into that.

I agree.

I'd like to know everyone who I know is subscribed to me. My aunt Facebook messaged me tonight because my new video kept freezing on her. She had been notified on her iPod that I'd uploaded a new video, although I never once mentioned that I have a YouTube channel to *any* of my family. I'd love to see who else is subbed now.

Yeah, it's weird. I've had real life friends follow my twitter for whatever reason. I've even had real life friends recommended to me through google+.

Ha yeah! I've had people I didn't really talk to in school (and that I haven't seen in two or three years) add me on Google+. It's always a bit weird how G+ recommends people you barely know or don't even talk to online.

i keep mine private none of anyones business imo and im sure my subscribers really dont care who im subscribed to lol

I like to keep mine private because I am worried of judgemental people looking at my subscriptions.
