Why I Hate That People Can Keep Subscriptions Private

So, call me old fashioned, but I enjoy the idea of going to people's pages and thanking them for subscribing. I know that might sound silly, but I like to show each subscriber that I actually care that they're subscribed to me. On top of that, I get an email about it so I know when I've gained a subscriber. Now that you can keep your subscriptions hidden, I have no idea who's subscribed to me. It's annoying because I'd like to get to know my audience a little. Plus, each time I gain a sub, it's pretty much a mystery to me. I never know when I gain one until I check SocialBlade or randomly go to my page for no reason. Why is this even an option?

Yeah I don't like the option to hide it either I like checking email then thanking the person for subbing also

I honestly keep mine private. I hate people knowing who I am subscribed to and vice-versa. It is super annoying to me when I get a bunch of people subscribing to me just to ask for a sub back. Its not even about viewing their content, its about purely getting me to subscribe to them. So I just keep mine hidden.
 
i find hiding them is the best option as when i go on to other peoples channel its more like spam. some people may have thousands of subs and can be very distracting.

Well, yeah, but that only makes up a small portion of the community. Not every has thousands of subscriptions.

Yeah, I find that annoying too. But in general people will ask to sub 4 sub regardless.
 
I made mine private years ago because I didn't want people contacting/spamming my subscribers and bugging them to subscribe to their channel too. Some people just want to have an account so that they can subscribe and watch their favorite channels.

No, I'm not talking about keeping your subscribers hidden. I'm talking about subscriptions.

D'oh! In my case, I have my subscriptions hidden as well. I have a family-friendly channel and I don't need kids to know some channels that I subscribe to that are not family friendly.

I can understand where you're coming from in your case. That's fine.

Now, this, I just don't understand. Why does it matter if people see who you're subscribed to? XD
