Why doesn't Youtube just block adblock?

I've been on other sites that don't allow you to watch a video unless you disable your Adblock program first- Youtube is a company that wants to make money (arguably too much so lately) so it surprises me that they of all companies haven't taken these actions yet.

Is there a practical reason for this, or could we expect this to happen in the future?

From what I understand, I was under the impression that Adblock doesn't work on Google. I read that the developer of Adblock was bribed into making Adblock not work on Google. This could very well be a rumor though, haha.

adblock works on google, but adblock isn't even accountable for 1% of the ads that aren't shown, it wouldn't make a huge difference, and the lack of traffic would actually hurt the site more so than help it. I don't get why you're all under the impression that most of un-monetized views come from adblock.

More like the other way around. Adblock offers this "service" to websites that they can pay to be excluded from adblock. Good ole mafia blackmail methods...

the less people know about the thing the less likely people are to use it if the implemented anything against adblock word would just spread more and fast about it and the developer would have a fix for it soon enough

I completely agree, I speak for most people on this website when I say that it's a source of income for YouTuber's, it's utterly ridiculous to me that YouTube hasn't thought about this yet.
