Why does some big YouTubers not upload in 1080p?

I'm confused by this. If they got a ton of subscribers, surely they would afford a 1080p camera?

People like TheFineBros and Markiplier upload at 720p. It's fine for YouTuber's react and stuff, because it's not a game, and it won't look as blurry. But some horror games that Mark plays are so dark so it's difficult to see when he uploads in a low resolution.

I just don't get it.

some youtubers simply cant render in 1080p probably because their internet is really slow and a 10 minute video at 1080p would take days to upload

Pretty much all about time saving. You can edit, render, transfer, upload and stream faster at lower resolutions.

But wouldn't they have enough money to get a good internet connection?

Oh and another thing people sometimes do is use the extra room to move for zooming in and out and panning which can look really professional if you can't afford dollies or other equipment. You shoot in 1080 and then scale up/down and move left and right in a 720 composition

I wondered that too... I always thought they are not tech savvy and did not know that 1080p is better than 720p.

But Markiplier knows how to make thumbnails so I'm not sure why he wouldn't know enough about 1080p...

Maybe they are just lazy?

They quality difference between 720 and 1080 on a 3-10 minute video on YouTube isn't really that much, unless you bother to watch in full screen isn't worth the extra time it take to render and upload if you don't have a decent machine and net connection/upload speed.
You will find a lot is filmed in 1080 but is dropped down to 720 for the reasons I and others have mentioned, unless ofc they are quality freaks (like my self) who love full HD and don't care if it takes an extra 40 minutes to render and an extra 20 minutes to upload compared to the 720.
