Why does a video seem to suddenly get lots of views?

I'm pretty new to youtube and have only been uploading videos for a month. I uploaded a video about 2 1/2 weeks ago (non-monetized because its copywrited by someone else) and over that time, I seemed to get an average of 100 to 200 views per day for it, then the last 2 days it got 5,000 views. My other videos I've uploaded all have consistent daily view counts generally anywhere from 10 views to 100 per day. So what makes this one video start getting lots of views? (I realize compared to some of you 5,000 views is not alot, but its alot more than the other 24 videos I've uploaded)
 
Maybe it's being shared on social medias? Look to see where the views are coming from.

There is also the possibility (and let's hope it isn't this..) that it could of got botted. Someone could of put your video into a website/program to generate fake views.
 
All it takes is one tweet from a moderately sized youtuber that admires your videos to get a huge boost in views. It's happened to me a few times, it wasn't 5k but it was a couple hundred, which is still awesome.

It can be a highly subscribed person liking your video which then the activity goes to their feed and people see their activity and watch that particular video.
This is one possibility.
 
I've noticed that some videos I've had suddenly started gaining views months later. I have one about Andrea Russett for example that i took off her radio show that would get like 50 to 100 views a day. Then I didn't have computer access for about 6 months, and came back to find it had gotten 150,000 views.

It starts to snowball, after something gets a few likes, it is more likely to show up in searches. Social media shares not only get it in front of other eyeballs, but again cause something to show up in searches, where the video normally would not, regardless of what tags you gave it.

If you ever get a HUGE view increase, like from 2,000 views, all of a sudden to over a million, that means it was posted on some sort of blog like Huffpo or DailyDot, Mashable, Technoratti, etc. That happened to my friend CourtneyAbbruzzese "s**t Girls Say to their Boyfriends" video.
