Why disable subscriber count?

I'm curious as to why some channels decide to disable the subscriber counter on their channel. Personally I don't really care, I'm not more or less likely to subscribe based on how many followers you already have. For those channels that I am subscribed to, I do enjoy watching them grow on this platform. I want to see everyone succeed! I just wonder why some decide not to show this number?

I've never understood why; you can usually get an idea based on what activity their videos get. Like, you can hide it all you want, but if you only have like 13 views per video, I'm going to have a rough idea.
I've seen channels with thousands of subs with little to no activity on their videos, which is evidence that their numbers are built on "sub 4 sub".

I also don't agree with disabling comments or hiding ratings. It just seems ... cowardly, I guess? I dunno.

JackAttack might be right on his second point. But, honestly, not really sure why people do that, most likely the sub4sub imo

Honestly, I think you should just own however many you've got.
I mean, everyone started at some point and even if you started off buying subscribers or doing "sub 4 sub", you can still redeem yourself by marketing your channel more authentically and building a community.

Most likely they did sub4sub or brought there subs
Why would they hide the sub count if they did sub4sub though? It seems as if the only possible benefit to sub4sub might be to appear established; someone might give a video a chance if you have 10k subs but not if you have under 100 for example, depending on the content.

what if they had 10k subs and only averaging 20 to 30 views each video then people know and realise this guy sub botted
