Why did you start doing videos?

Since I don't know any of you yet, I'm curious. What made you start doing what you're doing? Was it the potential money? Wanting this to be a full time job? Boredom? Fun? Has it turned into something more than you expected, or turned out to be a disappointment?

I'll start! Since my 2, now 3 year old CONSTANTLY watches toy reviews, opening of surprise eggs and just plain dumb toy videos ALL the time, I decided that it would be fun for her to get to do it. We NEVER understood at our house why all "these people" make the videos...what was the point? They must have WAY too much time of their hands, and then one day I found an article about the lady who makes the video she watches and that she makes about $500,000 per year doing it, and then it clicked. Why not try!

So......I have decided to A-do it for fun along with B-as long as youtube is around, I'll have videos of her young (since we've lost all videos due to computer crashes, phone upgrades) and C-Any money generated over the next 16 years we will put in an acct for her. Whether it be $10 total or $10,000 total, it will be something for her. We have the time, we have the toys, so why not do something with them ;)

Many many many many moons ago, I used to play a game nonstop called Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. I was building a ride for a forum ride design competition and I wanted to base it off of Cars the movie. I was really young and made this crappy ride and had to upload it to YouTube to enter it in the contest. Well a few months go by and it goes semi viral, I received almost 30,000 views. I didn't really pay attention at all to my view count, so I didn't even realize this. Most of the stuff I uploaded was for forum contests and school projects and it was all crap.

Fast forward to a few years ago. One day my friend says "Your life seems pretty fun, why don't you vlog?" and I said "hmm...I don't really do a whole lot, but I guess I could try." So I created a whole new channel, made my first video, sent it to a bunch of my friends and they liked it and I've kind of kept working on them since.

My dream has been to become a professional actor for the longest time and I really feel like this is a valid outlet to reach my goals. I guess we'll have to wait and see!

There was no one making the kind of videos I wanted to see. I was in need of guidance about life. I wanted to know how to handle situations that come up like when someone hurts my feelings or when someone dies or when I feel depressed. I wanted to know how to be better at life and everyone was posting videos about beauty and games and gossip. So I went to grad school, studied counseling and other philosophies and started posting the answers to the questions I had, I made up the answers based on what worked for me to help get me through rough times. That is why I started.

Oh and- I had been a blogger for many years and one of my readers kept harassing me to get on Youtube and I didn't see the point of it until I decided to start posting my own videos.

Don't know... been watching a lot of videos on youtube and so I decided to give it a shot and now all I just see it as a hobby. Also it's just fun to make videos.

Well I got interested by watching videos and getting inspired by other YouTubers then a event happened while I was playing. I then got told to put it onto YouTube and from there it's history.

I started because I wanted to tech myself video editing. I kinda never expected myself to take my channel seriously - I guess I got bitten by the bug, now I strive to get better and better with every new video :)

I have been obsessed with films since I was a kid. I used to have this movie maker game where you could make your own 3D cartoons and even voice them.
I also attended a video making workshop and there was this online video editing app.
I don't remember the exact story how I started into YouTube but I remember messing around in Windows Movie maker, it became some kind of series while it was just a slideshow with some kind of story.

I'm now a college student and I study audiovisual\animation media designer.
It's pretty cool because we have to hand in our video projects via YouTube.
And my first video assignment was making a slideshow, it was pretty nostalgic hahahahah :U

When I had my old channel, I started making them because it looked fun and because i enjoy editing :)
When I made this one it was because I was missing making videos and being able to talk with other people and it just makes me happier :D

Well, it says so in my signature - I did start with some media production on uni, but dropped it, so, while I learn video editing that's not much of a reason anymore.

However, the re-learning English part still is.

When I was 6yo, as a little Norwegian kid, I visited my family in the US and in Canada. I was able to speak with them, in English. Fast forward 8 years. I'm 14, and used to speak English, then I was in a bicycling-accident, and broke my skull and got a brain hemorrhage in the part of the brain that controls the speaking. So, when I woke up the next day at hosptial all I was able to say was "aaaa" and "nnnnn".
It got better as it healed, and I got training, and spoke more. The problem was the lack of actual English being used. So 13 months ago, I decided to use youtube to make videos, where I spoke English while gaming. Thus training my ability to speak English while not having everything thought out before starting! :) 7-8 months ago my PC semi-crashed, and I haven't been able to keep doing it. However a new PC is being ordered the 25th, and I will get back to it.

It really did help though, in my travels this year, I've really noticed me being better :)
