Why Brits aren't as good as Americans

The constantly said complaint on this site: "People keep disliking my videos".
The constantly said reply: "Just haters, they just have nothing better to do."

This may be true, but most of the time it's not.

For example, when you clicked on this thread, how did you feel? Were you prepared to listen to my statement and give the opinions I gave real thought? Or did you click on it, absentmindedly ready to skim through what I may have said, and give your opinion on how "wrong" I am because you know you won't agree.

If so, you have just stepped into the mind of a "hater".

These people don't hate you, they're just more closed-minded from time to time. They simply may not like your controversial title, or another video your posted, or the same things you like.

I just don't like the idea of people saying that "haters" are just losers, or are compared to trolls.

I don't know, if you're getting what I mean, good. If no one does... I dunno, I'm tired.

I get where you're coming from, man, good way of looking at it! Although I must say that I clicked on this thread mainly because I was curious why an experienced YTtalker like yourself was posting that kind of topic in the wrong sub-forum.

I was so ready to agree with you on the American thing, but I get this. I still do agree though, they are closed minded, they don't hate you. People do have to learn not to take it personally.

This was wild from start to end; now it's time for the people who were going to come grill you, realize they've been caught out, and now they'll say stuff like above.

Haha! I came here looking for advice on how to be better (as a Brit) :P but you're right. If people have a genuine complaint then they're not just haters. That's kind of a dehumanizing word- They're possibly trolls, but also people who may genuinely disagree with you. Open discussion is the best way forwards IMO, unless the vitriol gets too much!

I thought this was going to be funny :P

but interesting point. I guess most of us here at YTTalk are quite forgiving. We want out fellow tubers to do well, and sometimes we cant see why someone may dislike. So our conclusion is oh, no reason, they are just being mean.

But likely it is related to title/subject etc. We just want to build up the person, rather than pull them down over small problems with their vids.

Well... I upload a 10 minutes long video and 1 minute after uploaded there's 1 dislike... I guess it's a hater

We can't put every negative response in the same category.

I guess for me there are 3 types:
1.) Someone dislikes (or not) and gives constructive criticism in the comments - awesome!
2.) Someone dislikes without giving a reason - this could be anything from a troll reaction to "I usually like your videos but I didn't enjoy this one as much". So an unusual number of dislikes may tell you something but otherwise, ignore and move on.
3.) Someone dislikes every video as soon as it's uploaded or leaves hateful comments - safe to ignore. The hater has issues that have nothing to do with you or your content.
