Why Are the Top Youtube Stars so Popular?

I feel like a lot of bigger youtubers have gotten lazier because of their fanbases' loyalty. If you look back, a lot of them either had one amazing video that skyrocketed them to the top or they had a series of good videos. I believe that if fanbases were harsher, that the quality of the videos these people put out would definitely increase.
that is true there is some youtubers who also quit after making enough money. There is also channels who keep getting better and better even when they stay on top

I agree, I just wish that us smaller youtubers can make a come up
You can! If you believe it you can achieve it!

I make that my goal a lot is when a new game/map pack comes out I say I am going to get my video to the top of the searches. I out beat much bigger youtubers in search rankings all the time that have 100k+ subs and 1 million+ subs. Take it one video at a time and reach for stars. The sky is the limit!

I am not bashing people like Pewdiepie or TobyGames or iJustine. But the question is this:

Why is it that if I were to go out there and act like Pewdiepie that I wouldn't get over like he has?

What if a female from here, @Katherinejane001 or @CatsRants (not to put either one of you on the spot) for example, could make vlog videos about random dumb stuff? I mean they are attractive female youtubers, but for some reason people like ijustine and jennamarbles get over better. Why?

What makes these top people different then the million other people who have better content like half of the people on YTTalk?

Is it that Youtube gives them a push to the front page and that's why it gets so much attention. Most of their content is garbage compared to some. Who gives a s**t about them going to the grocery store!

To answer the original question... boobs. Because of boobs. Because boobs are good, and we love boobs. I mean have you seen the racks that iJustine, Jenna Marbles and Pewdiepie have nowadays? Pewds even went up a cup size.

But why is it that they can now post anything and get the same response. ...

The only guy on top that I think deserves it in all honesty is SMOSH just because his content is Unique, creative, and it takes skill on a technical standpoint with his camera angles, scripts, the sound production quality...

It's a fan base. There are TV shows that we watch long after they were in their prime, YouTube channels would be no different.

As for Smosh, I can't stand their content so your argument is a moot point for me.

Actually, aren't PewDiePie and Smosh providing content to attract the same demographic? teenage boys? (discussion)

Aw thanks so much!! :) Tbh I think most of them have just been going for years and years and built up a subscriber base that way. And, also, many of the started soooo long ago, like way back before being a vlogger was even a thing, so they got a head start. Whereas now so so many people have decided to start up a channel where they chat to the camera it is almost impossible to stand out and get noticed.

My point is when I was a Let's Player during 08-12' (not mentioning the original channel's name) I got about 2k subs but I did the gaming thing for like 5 years starting in 08, but yet PewDiePie comes and 6 months - 1 year later he's #1. The whole thing just made no sense. I don't do that channel nemore and I try to keep that under wraps that I was even on that channel but still. Same quality as I have now.

Pretty much all of the top YouTubers have been doing it for years. They've built up a strong audience, and a big fan base.

It has nothing to do with their content, it's their personality. And, to be fair, they're original. If you go around acting like PewDiePie, well you're not going to get far. You're not unique or original, you're just copying him.

You also got to remember the videos that made them popular. iJustine for example got popular because one of her videos went viral, Jenna Marbles the same.
PewDiePie is not original . There were many other gamers before him acting like idiots .
Misery , a swedish Counter Strike pro player used to play scary games and act like a p***y instead of warming up during LAN events . He became famous because of this in the competitive gaming community . There was a guy on Xfire doing the same thing way before Youtube was founded .
PewDiePie became "mainstream" famous but that doesn't mean he is original .
Scare jumps , rage moments and non sense were already old when Youtube was founded .

FINALLY SOMEONE SEES MY POINT! It's not about being their for a long time. It's because mediocrity is praised and excellence and hard work is demoted. I think the reason they get so popular (not trying to insult anyone) is because they cater to the same majority hollywood does with the paint by numbers, bland, loud noises and explosions with no substance s**t. That or PewDiePie pays YouTube A LOT of money to get to the top of the list. All of my current videos are on the front page of the particular search box via SEO. Even games that famous people did i'm above them in the search. It's probably because somebody got paid off.

Why are top businesses so popular? They are just really skilled at what they do. They might have a niche that they really know how to work. Over time they learned how to produce videos that people like to watch.
