Aww, that was sweet. Well, I wasn't born in the 80s, but I really loved the old cartoon shows. Well, I'm off to a sweet pony show spree.

Nah, you don't have to bot. Been to the front page without anything like that. Also the hundreds you see don't mean real hundreds. The system changes the numbers to make it harder to rig things. If you see something with 105 upvotes and 103 downvotes, it could in reality be just 5 ups and 3 downs. Votes also count less over time. Don't remember where the line is. A couple of hours. Votes that are cast later are worth less.



How to get big on Reddit:
It's all about the right subreddit, the right time and a kick a** title. Without the right title it doesn't get clicked in the first place. Without the right subreddit it doesn't get the upvotes. And if posted at the wrong time, it doesn't get enough upvotes to go anywhere.

Knowing the right place, time and title requires experience. Symph, you're overthinking it right now. Just go there, look around, have fun and don't take votes personal, up or down. If you do so you'll find your place and eventually get a feeling for what works where and when and how and why.

I don't see the point of a /r/YTtalk though...

It makes me nervous because I get scared we're gonna share something on reddit we loved of one of our members and they're gonna come dislike the s**t out of it. I'm also scared that one of our more fragile members may get made fun of or talked badly to and lose some self esteem. You're probably right about me over thinking it. But ultimately, I think we need to just join it, as a forum, but not really interact with each other there, unless we legitimately happen to run into each other.

Watch videos, share videos (be they from the forum or not) and just HAVE IT, so that those of us who DO find where we belong on reddit and become well known and stuff CAN share videos and WILL get viewed when they find someone on here who puts out something they really love. I may be taking too much of a... military like approach at the moment but the whole site is so foreign to me and I'm having to break out of the old mindset of "reddit's a harsh mean place" and into the "reddit has something for everyone you've just got to find it" mentality.

Agreed on that one.

All that you-have-to-be-known-talk is overrated, though. Content (and labeling and placement and timing) is way more important. The account that I got a video in the Top 5 of the front page with was a n00b account, with hardly any karma. Probably below 5. Yes, it does help a little here and there, but isn't necessary. There are easy ways to get karma fast though...

Such as? I can't get no love right now LOL I only got downvoted, I've been trying to make jokes in different sub reddits, or just telling people "that was awesome!" Or even responding to a person's comment and adding to what they were saying, I'm getting nothing in return. Maybe it's just slow?

Only one problem, I can't post a video URL here. I guess cuz I'm new?

Anyway....I guess I'll walk the walk of shame....
