Who Else Gets Less Excited About Their Video While Editing?

I've noticed this happens pretty much every time I make a video for anything. Typically, I make comedy videos, so when recording, it's hilarious. If I'm recording with friends, we can't stop laughing at takes and are super excited to watch the final product. However, when I get into editing, everything is less funny, even to the point where I barely even smile while watching. Does this happen to anyone else? Hopefully it's because during the editing process, I look at the video so many times so I just get indifferent to it. I seem to get positive reviews/comments generally, so that might be it. Anyone else?

This happens to me as well. I try to edit it in a funny way, but worst case scenario I force myself to take a break

Ehh, it's usually the opposite for me. Editing is probably my favourite part of the entire process - maybe because I know the bulk of the work is done and now I get to make my idea come to life.
There are definitely points when I'm having to play a clip over and over and I end up wanting to punch myself in the face, but that doesn't happen too frequently, fortunately!

Well, when editing, its mostly repetition, you keep watching the takes over and over again and you begin to lose the humour in it, but for someone that watches it the first time, its pretty funny! :D

Same here, totally opposite; if filming was like cooking, I'd say shooting is like kitchen prep. You plan, get all the ingredients prepared, and then the cooking (editing) part is where you make ish happen. I get so wrapped up in editing I don't want to stop. Maybe it's different for comedy sketches though!

Yeah it can be hard. Sometimes you cant tell how bad your video was until it hits editing.

I remember shooting a video, then next night sat down to edit and couldn't believe how crap I had been.

Ended up scraping it and re shooting it again. It came out completely differently.

I think it's a little bit of the opposite for gaming channels. The editing is what makes or breaks the video, and the original content can only be so funny either way,

With videos like yours though I think you're right - i'd imagine the repition of watching your own stuff would make it less funny to you than the viewers will think it is.
