Which thumbnail style should I use?

any thumbnail should do, i usually go with the topic of my video and go from there. i also use a watermark on each thumbnails so it makes them more distinct
 
I actually like the older ones better. Yeah you're sacrificing half the space for text, but there's something about the design and flow that makes me prefer the first set.

However, if I'm looking at a bunch of your thumbnails at once (say on your channel page), I think that the second set might look better because the crescent-shaped background for the text in the first set would grow repetitive. One at a time though, I definitely prefer the first set.

The "Lost Trigger" watermark on the first set is not needed though. Too small for anybody to ever notice it and it just clutters the image.
 
I personally prefer the newer thumbnails, but like everyone else said, you might want to improve the clarity!
 
I think it all really depends on the style of your channel. In your case, I'd go with the older ones. It looks slicker, and more professional. But hey, if you like the newer ones, then do you Boo-Boo.
