Which matters more: watchtime or view duration?

Hey! Merry Christmas everyone. I have a quick question about YouTube but I'm not sure where I should put the thread, so if an admin could move it that would be great. Anyways, I'm just curious if watch time and stuff on YouTube really matters? Or is it mainly the average view duration? My videos are around 7 minutes long and they used to do really well, and now I am struggling to make a popular YouTube video. Any help? Thanks!!!
 
Moved to the strategy forum.

Well obv it's not duration, otherwise all you'd need to do is make 10 hour long videos.
