Its The Halfrican! And I was wondering what laptop would be best for video editing? I am currently looking into a lenovo Y 700 which is a laptop containing an i7 processor and a ddr3 ram and a hp spectre which is a smaller laptop but also has an i7 processor

Hi there.

A mac is always good, but you have to pay a buttload to get a decent one. The only difference between macs and pc's these days is that a mac costs at least twice the price of a similar pc. But it will run twice as long. So if you are on a budget I wou;d suggest the pc. Short term that means you'll get a good 3 to 4 years out of it. Maybe a bit longer when you upgrade.

Anyway, if you want to edit that I would suggest you load up on the processor and the RAM. i7 and at least 16Gb RAM should give you a good start. It all depends on how and what you want to edit though.

Mac is great for editing. IMO it's mostly up to preference. I find that Apple's OS is very simplistic and built on ease of use for creative individuals who make videos, music, or any sort of graphic art.

First off, a desktop would have more bang for the buck, especially when it comes to heavy work as gaming or editing. However it looks like you're in need of portability.

Secondly, I'd advise against buying Lenovo laptops which you can figure out yourself by googling "Lenovo Scandal". Essentially, Lenovo laptops greatly compromise your security and privacy for their own gain. Then it has been repeated after they said to end it. They're sadly not trustworthy. Don't support such a scummy company.

For editing you have to go with a mac

Bullocks. That's a blind mac glorification. Don't listen to that. Consider your needs of portability, performance and budget as well as considering what software you want to use. Mac doesn't have magical hardware: The reason for a mac should be rooted in its nifty os or the need to use osx-specific software. It also flows well with the Adobe programs.

I have windows and mac and trust me mac wins in the video editing department.
