Where Do You Get Your Video Ideas From?

Don't know if my response will help, but what I'm seeing on here is a lot of... "whatever pops in my head." Yes, of course. Obviously everyone does that. Doesn't really answer the original question...

So let me take that a step further. I keep a note file on my iPhone. So when I am out and something does pop in my head, I can jot it down really quick. (Most of us have terrible memories) I keep two lists on my home computer - blogs and vlogs. Those quick, one-line musings I have I sort into one of those two categories. If it is a little darker, or something I don't think I can make very funny, or something I couldn't stretch out to make a 3-4 minute video, it becomes a post on my blog. If the opposite of those variables are true, I add it to my vlog list (a little longer, funnier, more lighthearted, etc). Most of the ideas on either of those columns are something witty I heard once, or a clever thing I thought of while out... (Check out my blog for more detail. You'll see that I have all posts sorted into Articles [NO VIDEO] or Video [VIDEO])

For example, one night I was musing at how most people are irritating to follow on Twitter. That's where "Social media tutorial" came from. Or another time I got home and saw a car accident and I laughed out loud about how many of my neighbors were outside gawking. That became "Car accidents are funny." Someone left me a comment that said 'stop swering' so that's where "I say bad words" came from. We all think of things that make ourselves chuckle at least once a day - I think the key is to write those things down.

Or any time you are having a conversation with someone and either you or s/he begins a sentence with, "Ever notice how..." or "I find it funny that..." or "It pisses me off when..." -- those are gold. Make a note of what follows. Especially if it's something someone else said, because odds are, they weren't the first person to think of or say it. That means there are others that will identify with this thought or idea.

Also write down other jokes or things that made you laugh throughout your lifetime as you recall them every so often. Even if comedy isn't your game, if it was something you found amusing, you can turn it into an interesting video at the very least.

if something happens to me irl, i jot it down and try and develop the idea later. hard to think of great ideas so i just let em come to me as i do what i do.
