Where do I even start making a video?

My first video had no editing at all in it but now I want to.

OK, so I have to record from my iPhone as it's fairly good camera, and I don't have an actual camera to record with.

So once I've filmed the video how do I edit it? I am genuinely so confused. The only thing I can think of doing is sending it to my hotmail and downloading it on windows movie maker then cutting some of it but it will probably make the quality and resolution be worse which I don't need and it seems really unprofessional.

I wanted to try use this 'Youtube Capture App' as you can add music underneath but I don't think you can edit from that, especially on my phone :( I'm lost...help!

You can plug in your phone to your comp and use and editor. Since it sounds like you don't like Movie Maker so much, you can try and buy a better one, like Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas. As for the Youtube Capture App, never tried it before so I genuinely have no idea, sorry.

1. As you said, you need a software to edit it. This might be the windows movie maker for the beginning, even though I made very bad experiences with it. If you choose the right settings it will not effect the picture quality. Consider...every movie you watch was edited and rendered again. Do they look unprofessional? No.

2. A Video usually does not just exist out of 1 scene where you cut out parts (even though it can). My Videos usually exist out of at least 20 different scenes, sometimes more then 100 (and that in a 5 minutes video)! That means that probably more than 200 times I hit the record and stop button and in the end cut together the best scenes I shot. This is how editing works. Simply watch other peoples videos and analyze how many cuts they have... In the end it of course all depends on what kind of videos you make. If you make vlogs then it might be that you only cut out parts which are boring or you restarted your text etc..

Sending it per email is by the way not a very good idea. I recommend you to connect your phone with the cable to your laptop.

If you start researching Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas. My two cents is to just start with Premiere Pro. If you need reasons why just ask :). But be sure to do research first!

I've used both extensively, and I've come to like Premiere Pro more.

Just moving this to the Video Editing, Recording Software and Hardware section of the forum for you :)
