When to monetize?

I've had the monetize feature available for a couple years now because I had one video go kinda "viral". It hasn't gotten me too many subsequent views however and I feel like by monetizing my videos now it's probably killing any chance of getting an audience. When did you start seriously putting ads on your videos. Did you see any hit in terms of subscribers or views?
 
I wouldnt monetize until you have at least 1000. I experimented with it when I first started posting a few months ago and my view/sub count definitely took a hit.
 
whenever you feel up to it, you should. It seems like you have quite a decent video quality (was watching your short clip of coodies XD )
 
I think there is not a problem monetizing from the beginning.. Although you can think of it in a differerent approach and kinda 'grace' your smaller subscribers with the fact that they dont have to watch adverts.
 
As soon as I started monetizing my view counts and subscriber count boomed in comparison to what I was getting. If you can get money why would you wait even if it isn't much. Monetizing in my opinion should have no effect what so ever on a persons view count.

Hmm that seems counter intuitive but sounds good to me. I could really use those pennies I was getting lol hopefully theyll become dimes than quarters.
 
Some channels that monetize early may take a hit in growth and views. That's why I generally advise people to wait until they have around 400-500 subscribers, not only that, you just won't be earning anything worthwhile anyways, but then again, some channels grow as a result of this. If you have a loyal fanbase who are willing to support and watch ads, then go for it.
