When should we Create a Twitter & facebook page

So like me and many others here, we know that we have to try to take every chance to promote our videos to reach the dream of being more recognised. but when do you think one should create a facebook and a twitter page that connects to your youtube?
and for you who have a facebook/twitter for your youtube, did it help much? tell us about it.

I'd say whenever you feel like you need a page. I created a facebook page for my channel a day ago just because I don't like to annoy people on my friends list that perhaps don't want anything to do with my videos, so I created a page so that people who are interested could like it and would see my uploads on there from now on.

I think it would never hurt if you have one prepared early - so if success comes suddenly, all your new viewers have a place to go to on Facebook where they can talk about your videos.

Social networks are great for promotion but they only go so far you have to have good videos in the first place to really benefit from it.

I think you should create them right away, so that all of your content on YouTube gets posted to these accounts, populating them with information so people will join and like.

I'm a tiny channel but have Twitter. You might get lucky and a big YouTuber will have a conversation with you which could direct their fans to your channel.
As for Facebook, if you're small and have no fans, who is going to be viewing your facebook page?

They can help, but don't expect a ton from them unless you get in touch with a big youtuber. Gains are small if not non existent, but hey every bit helps right?

Start them now. My reasoning is one of credibility. You can link both Twitter and Facebook to your youtube account. This means every video will get a posting to both. As you become more established, this gives you social media accounts with credibility, instead of ones starting later with 0 posts when you feel "the time is right".

You don't have to do anything special with them now. Just let the post autopilot run for a while.
