When recording with a DSLR camera...

Would you say that one is better than the Canon EOS 650D? :)

The 650D is the next one up in the range ie. it was the new model to the 600D. Main differences with the 650D are below.....
  • Increased max ISO25600 (ISO12800 max on 600D)
  • Increased continuous shooting: 5fps vs 3.7fps
  • New Touch screen with multi-touch gestures, such as pinching and swiping
  • DIGIC 5 vs DIGIC 4 processor
  • 9-point all cross-type AF system vs 9-point AF (cross-type at centre)
  • New Handheld night scene
  • New HDR mode combines 3 shots
  • Full-HD movies with manual controls and continuous AF
The continuous AF isnt brilliant - sometimes it takes a second or two to refocus, which can be seen in the video - but you probably would need this too much if your not moving around while vlogging etc. Even leaving it in manual focus before you hit record whould probably be OK TBH - but its a good feature if you dont want to bother with manual AF at all.

The 650D also has a touch screen display, similar to the capacitive screen from the iPhone (so not one that works with pressure, but a 'proper' touch screen like the iPhones have).

You also have a faster processor in the camera, which always helps!!

Theres probably around a £60-70 price difference between the two, and if its something you're looking to keep and use for a long time personally I'd probably go with the newer one! Nevertheless, the 600D wuld also be fine for your videos - so just though I would throw that into the mix as well for you to consider in case funds were a little tighter etc ;)[DOUBLEPOST=1382531820,1382531615][/DOUBLEPOST]Hey just found the 650D with lens kit for £410 here!

Thats not a bad price at all - bear in mind Ive never shopped from that site though, so I'd check reviews etc first just in case ;)

Awesome! Thanks! I think I'll go with 650D in that case! Do the DSLR need a lot of setting changes before I start shooting or is the default settings fine? (Sorry for asking so much Q_Q I know absolutely nothing about this..)

Nah Ive only ever really used the default settings and Ive been fine - I dont do much with photograhy so I dont get most of this ISO and white balancing stuff! lol. Most of the time i just leave all settings in auto and just record! I keep telling myself I need to learn all this stuff to get the most out of my camera, but I struggle to find the time!

You'll get a nice fat manual with the camera to go over - but personally I left everything in auto and it seems tohave worked Ok for me so far.....(I think!) lol

Which SD card are you using?? Dont forget the new camera doesnt come with a SD card ;)

I would also normally recommend some lighting - but looking at the video in your sig, thats perfect anyways so you need'nt bother!

Pfftt, at least I had a little clue! :p Nice, I've bookmarked all of these links! :D Hehe!

They may not be the best prices though - so shop around etc. But it'll give you a general idea of what to aim towards etc ;)

Give me a shout once you have all the kit and we'll then spec out your MacBook Pro......... lol ;)

Fantastic! Thank you so much! I appreciate it very much. :D

When I google the mic you recommended, it says "Audio-Technica’s newscaster-style omnidirectional ATR3350 lavalier" (Wow, that's a mouthful) Is that the correct one? I just wanted to make sure before ordering anything.
Canon t3i or 60D are two good DSLRs as well, a lot cheaper than whatBashir said. Although the 60D has basically the same sensor than the t3i from what I heard[DOUBLEPOST=1382563321,1382563198][/DOUBLEPOST]

I'd personally recommend you lock all your ISO and all that stuff so that each video looks the sameish ^^.
Disable automatic whitebalance and all that jazz
