When is a youtube channel considered popular/successful?

I'd say it is pretty successful considering you made it 4 months ago.
But I think the main thing to be able to say it is successful is that the numbers keep growing, so say you get 1,000,000 views but only a few hundred on other videos then it's probably just that one video, but if every video gets a good amount of views and your subcriber base keeps growing then I would say you could call yourself successful!

to me it's whenever you have a audience that is constantly growing and interacting with you. kinda like the vlogbrothers who end up making their own community

That's a subjective point of view, really.

I consider hitting 1,000 subs successful (or 100,000 views) because that's darn difficult to do. But some need to be in the big leagues before they'd consider themselves popular.

Like your channel -- you have one of the highest subs levels on this forum, for example. Providing they're all real people (which I am sure they are!) then there is no reason to think that you haven't done very well :)
exactly. There are people who see me as a small fry, and people who see me as a huge channel. There are people who see themselves as small channels and I think they're HUGE, and people who see themselves as large and I'm like "that's really not that big" it all depends on who you're asking.
