When did you start promoting your channel?

Did you wait for your videos to look more professional before sharing it? Or did you go for it immediately after you started posting?

Hey Zetalou! For me, I used to have an experimental channel where it was basically me trying out concepts with a non-pro camera...even though production value sucked, I still kept sharing them around and over a period of about a year since, it somehow amassed to some 3000 or so collective views...although I am inactive there now...

This current channel I'm on on the other hand...I'd like to believe that my videos were pretty professional grade from the start haha so I definitely started sharing them around a lot more! That and I'm also taking Youtube more seriously by uploading at least once a week haha. Problem is reaching my target audience outside of my immediate friends, which is mostly teens to young adults haha...that and there's no real subreddits that would really work for my types of videos :P

Long story short...I promote straight from the beginning XD

I can see why! Both the content and the quality of your videos are good! Have you tried promoting your Youtube channel on Twitter or Tumblr maybe? Ask you friends to share them or post them on their wall.

Thanks! :) and let's just say I have a presence of exactly 5 followers on Twitter (I just can't find enough things to "Tweet" about consistently :P ) and I'm considering starting Tumblr, although none of my friends use it haha

But yeah, I already have them share/post on their walls although most of my views from that comes localized from my town...like its nice to get well known in your hometown but if I can get past that barrier and be seen by the rest of the nation and beyond, that'll be a goal in itself right there XD

We started promoting our videos minutes after the very first video went live on YouTube :P No time to lose! Haha

Cheers,
Kelly and Alex

I didn't actively start trying to promote my channel until I got a decent camera. It was my major holdup in making videos in the first place so my channel was really sporadic in the first ten months or so that my channel was active.

As soon as I had made my first video, not even uploaded it, I just mentioned it on my Tumblr. Then once the videos started going up, it was sort of full steam ahead :D

I started networking with small youtubers on tumblr before I started my channel because I was just too excited to wait to be honest haha. I started promoting my content as soon as I posted my first video. Slowly I have began to use more social media in order to share my videos

I started promoting with my very first video. I don't believe that professional quality equipment is necessary for a video to be good. I go to university so I know a lot of people, and they're all watching me and encouraging me and those who have their own channels offer to collaborate with me. I only have 15 subscribers so far, so I post my videos on facebook, twitter, tumblr, instagram and pinterest. I'm new to everything that isn't facebook, so I'm probably screwing the whole thing up  I'm gonna keep going though! Someone out there is going to find my stuff worth watching, and that will be the best reward.
