What's your opinion on Patreon for your channels?

I see no problem with patreon at all...in fact, I'm very much considering getting one when I get bigger and remove monetization from my channel.

I also don't see why people would get angry at a youtuber for having a patreon, it's not like they're telling you that you have to pay to watch their videos...it's basicly a "hey, if you feel like it, you can support me with a couple of dollars"...that's it.

Well, I think it's an awesome way to support your fellow content creators and artists. I know Harry Partridge was someone who made a video against likle Kickstarter and I guess just in general doesnt like sites like that much, but his fans know he's ben struggling with making animations and doing everything alone, so they keep asking him to make Patreon to help him out and donate. And I think that's rather swell, when fans and supporters want to lend a helping hand, and that just warms my cold cold heart.

I personally don't use Patreon, but if I did I'd wait for at least a decent amount of subscribers. If you're already trying to set up a Patreon with only 1 subscriber (and that subscriber is your mom), you might wanna wait a little bit longer.

I'm not opposed to people using patreon, as long as they don't do anything drastic; like trying to guilt their subscribers or blocking away important content behind pay walls. It's sort've a moral responsibility i suppose!

I don't do it personally, but I've seen others do it and I think it's a commendable way to make money, in my opinion better than throwing ads everywhere from a reputation point of view.

A lot of sailing people I watch on youtube are on it. It gets them money to continue sailing. I think its good. Im on it but probably will never have any paterons. Its nice when you can use that money to get new equipment and such.

I think it is a good idea as long as you have a dedicated following and aren't just doing it with a small channel. That just comes off as needy to me.
