what's up with all these sub 4 sub?

sub4sub would work if anyone who subbed to you watched your videos but they usually don't so in the end you end up looking like a fool.

There are attempts at sub4sub on ALL forums. Folks on YTtalk are just better at disguising it. That being said, this is the best YouTube community I've come across and hope it stays that way.

people on twitter always ask me for sub 4 sub. I am happy to have mutual subbing if it's a creator I respect and we can comment on each other's videos - but otherwise it's total s***e...

exactly if they have good content and upload frequently then it's all good, especially if they watch and comment on your videos!

The goal should be to establish a fan base, not get more subscribers. Sure, the number of subscribers you have comes into play for YouTube's video ranking system, but not nearly as much as quality and frequency of content. Another factor that became of utmost importance somewhat recently is viewer retention. If you're uploading 10-minute videos and people only watch them for 10 seconds, you will not be ranked well by the system.

Point being get active subs, not just subs for the sake of subs.

They've taken it a step further for me... they actually add me on facebook then send me a msg asking to sub and they'll sub back... what's next? a text message or a phone call?? hahaha

I've never fallen for that sub4sub crap. If I want to watch you, I'll sub and the other way around. I already have enough dead subs.

I tried one of those sub4sub websites once, and I still regret it to today. Never EVER do that. You won't have the excitement of getting one real sub who actually likes your videos.

I honestly don't get why people like sub 4 sub, if they aren't going to watch and they don't even care about your content why would you want them subscribed. It'd obviously can't give them much satisfaction either, I mean it's not as if they worked to gain them.

Even though tempting I stay away from that. Subs gained naturally are way more satisfying. And I don't have proof but I've heard it could hurt your rankings to have bad subs.
