What's the point to joining a Multi-Channel Network?

From my understanding, monetized videos rank better in search, etc., which is why I monetize mine.

I haven't seen any real evidence of this, but I believe it because it is in the obvious best interests of YouTube to ensure money makers show up higher.
 
I just think that not every video needs to be monetized and have preroll ads. So why should someone who wants to upload an ad free video be put lower on the list? But YouTube is a business after all so I guess that's just how it's gotta be.

It's merely logic at work. There is as yet, no evidence to prove the theory.
