What's the point of Youtube if you don't succeed in the end??

I agree with you Simon. I think that you have to look at the small victories you have with each video. Very few people ever really get any kind of money from youtube, but you can always pull some kind of joy from your time on the site. Don't lose site of why you came there in the first place.

exactly! :)

I mean i was just browsing youtube and came across this lovely old man (72 i believe) who makes videos and he has about 400.
Suddenly, a few days ago he made a simple video about 'how to eat a watermelon' ...such a simple idea, and that has now gone viral for him! wow.

But you can tell he has a passion for what he does, and that's what makes for a likeable YouTuber, the passion, the drive, the hardwork and determination... and they will pay off :) whether it's one person or a million.

I can relate to you. For me though it's this feeling like something is not right that takes away my motivation. I gain about 1 sub a day, sometimes more sometimes less, and yet my views keep going down. I'm not sub for subbing, using social networking sites, botting, or doing anything other than uploading content, so these subs are random and real, yet I get less and less views each video... this makes me feel like I'm beating my head against a wall. Feels like even if my channel grows, it's not really growing.

And while I'd never quit, I'd make videos for 15 people if that's all I had watching me. But at the same time, I'm not excited like I was. If I was watching my views match my sub count, and seeing that my channel legitimately was growing with a real returning audience, I'd take my videos more seriously and be excited to put them out. But because of this "more subs/less views" thing, I'm just kinda... I'm not excited about my channel like I should be :(
You have a beautiful voice :) Reach out... talk to "successful" Youtubers. Interact with the community. Use the best keywords you can. And sing![DOUBLEPOST=1345061989,1345061548][/DOUBLEPOST]
So i've been thinking about this a lot. I am a gameplay comedy youtuber and i put in A LOT of time into making my videos and spreading the word i have been doing this for about 9 and basically i have gotten from 0 to 200 and that may sound good but its really bad considering some youtubers get from 0 to 500 thousand subs in 1 year (Whiteboy7thst) and i get like 1 sub a week. so my question is what is the point of youtube when you work so hard on it but get nowhere in the end. I am still doing youtube because i enjoy editing and making videos and i have a fear that , that will be gone eventually.
I noticed on your video, that what you're saying doesn't relate to what is going on in game play at all. Maybe it would be funnier if you could make it more inline. Like when the boy in your story actually gets caught by his mom, have something blow up or your character be shot and fall down in shame.
Just a suggestion :) Good Luck and hang in there!

You should also make an effort to share your channel with others, like posting on forums, expanding with social media, and the like.

It doesn't really matter to me if I get famous or not. As long as I have time and enjoy doing what I'm doing, I'll keep making videos. Sure, every once and a while I get a bit disappointed by the lack of subscribers and viewers, but in the end it doesn't really bother me because I enjoy being a YouTuber.

Like some of my fellow youtubers said above; it is about making yourself happy. Sure views are great. When I was 21 I used to have this idea that one day I was going to open nightclubs where video makers could go and show off their projects much like bands do. There was never a forum for film making unless you made it into some festival.
4 years later, youtube came out. That is exactly what I was talking about (minus the nightclub). But it is OUR forum to put ourselves out there. Not for the views, subs, money or fame (sure those are all wonderful and I would love to get all that) but we do it because it makes us happy. It is our creative outlet.
Youtube success is like lighting striking. You have to be in the right place at the right time. We all won't get there, but hell, this s**t is free. HAVE FUN WITH IT!!! When it stops being fun, then move on to something else. That is the point of everything I think. "Forever Alone *****" just made a video about this. Go check him out (he is on this forum). It is the same thing I commented to him.

Everyone is on point. You're not supposed to make a career out of YouTube. It is a hobby and success is just a bonus. Enjoy what you're doing because YouTube is the biggest forum for expression.

really the purpose of youtube is for self expression. You should be uploading videos to voice your opinions and ideas for yourself . Don't think about what anybody else thinks.

It's all about passion and interest. I think a mistake a lot of people make when they get into YouTube is having the mindset that you "have" to get big on YouTube. Yes, it feels nice to have subscribers and a ton of comments, etc. But based on observation, the channels that get the most interactions and success are those that just started (and continued) to do what they've just enjoyed sharing with other people.

I'm a vlogger. My type of videos rarely get any type of big/hype success if you're actually aiming to be a success on YouTube. For me, it's about meeting people, making friends and just documenting my life in a way that older generations weren't able to. :) I guess it depends on how you look at it.

Good luck though. :)
