Whats the best Video editing software out there?

Once you get used to it, Premiere is one of the best tool for editing. (I fight with my university tutors over it) but once you work out what the razor does and how to place stuff. After that work on plugins like color correct.

When I started animating I used Windows Movie Maker and as you can imagine, how limited this is!

I then started using Magix Movie Edit Pro (http://www.magix.com/za/movie-edit-pro/) which I am still using till today, seams to do everything I need.

I may look at Sony Vegas, but at $600 is quite expensive.

I use Sony vegas 11, but if you want it for cheap you can get sony movie studio. It's the same as sony vegas, only it doesn't have GPU accelerated rendering and is limited to 4 audio and 4 video tracks(not a big deal if you are clever).

It's about $90 if I remember correctly.
