What's sharing privates for?

I do all my own graphics!
I just saw this today. Can anyone tell me what the point of sharing a private video would be? Isn't the point of putting it on private because you don't want others to see it?

As I understand private videos can only be seen under the video owner's account. SO, how does this work if I were to use it?

Ah, I see. That is actually a pretty useful function because with an unlisted video, technically, others can still see it as long as they have the link.

How does this private sharing work though? I see that you have to put a name, circle, or email address but what happens specifically? Does the addressee receive a video link?

I think that's what happens. I'm not exactly sure as I have never done it.

The difference between unlisted and private is this: Unlisted -anyone who has the link can see the video, more secure then public put if someone chooses to share the link, anyone can see it. Private-means that the user names you share it with have to be logged in with their username to see the video, this provides most security if you have something you need to share with only few people.
 
A lot of people upload their videos as private. And then publish when the time is right. They will let their friends, etc... watch the private video before they publish it to the public. I've had numerous friends with larger channels do this and share their vids with me before they go out to their subs.
