What's going on with the "New Fred"

Yeah I noticed that. If you watch the newest Fred video, he has a drawing of him chaining up Uncle Sam, he pokes fun at the American school system and American kids taking too many pills.

If this is a prank it is very clever one and very well thought-out. I don't think the kid playing the new Fred is the one behind the prank, he looks like he is 8 years old or under no way he could pull it off on his own.
If you look at the New Fred lost his meds video, you notice that there's an employee from Yuksung and it reveals the rest of the set.

Yeah whether that agenda is against America or just to mess with Freds channel, the kid is not to blame.

Reading the comments of the new Fred video I think it is funny how half the people think Yuksung bought Fred and they are a real company and the other half think the kid himself hacked Fred and is responsible for this. I know that neither of them those things are true. But at least they can all agree this new Fred is horrible, even people who hated the old Fred, liked him better.
You just made me realize that this whole NEW FRED thing could me a way to make Fred's old videos look better lol

Lucas Cruikshank post a picture on instagram that had a secret message. The message was a video link. To an unlisted video on Freds channel.

Well CoolMoo5, looks like you win.

However, it's not a hoax or a prank... It's a story! Yuksung has kidnapped Fred and replaced him! Who will save the day? Tune in next time... :giggle:

Oh help, these people are actually taking it too serious.

Omg!! Another new video on the Fred channel. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the guy in this video works for collective digital studios. And I can't believe people think Yuksang is a real company just because they have a website and claim they make cereal. I think this whole thing proves people will believe anything on the internet.

As intrigued as I am, I refuse to do what all the suits who created this "buzz" want me to do, ie watch more of his videos lol.

It hasn't created as much buzz as you would think though. There are have been four new Fred videos and the most viewed one hasn't even hit 200,00 views and remember Fred has over 2 million subscribers. These new videos are among the least viewed on the Fred channel. I think it goes to show how short lived internet fame. In 2008, I watched Lucas launch the new Fred channel and in 2009 I stayed up and watched Fred hit million subscribers. At his peak when I watched Fred his new video would hit 2 million views in 24 hours and 5 million minimum by the end of the week. Now he is struggling to get 200,000. That was then, this is now. Fred is dead.[DOUBLEPOST=1407900766,1407900456][/DOUBLEPOST]I find this whole thing very interesting. Maybe it is because Fred was one of the first YouTubers I ever watched in 2008. Before Fred, I had watched YouTube but I thought it was just cat videos, amateur musicians posting covers and music videos of famous musicians. I didn't know it was people actually creating original content. Fred inspired me.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Lucas at all. On the contrary, I admire his success and the character he created, Fred was pretty original. I'm not his target audience but yeah I respect what he's done. 200k views in a few days is a lot. You shouldn't compare it to number of subs, because like you said, they're not active anymore anyway.

I find it interesting from an internet marketing perspective and also from a human behaviour point of view (ie seeing how his fans are reacting and how naive some people are with regards to them believing everything they see and read and not for one moment questioning it to come up with their conclusions lol.)

But beyond that, yeah, I'm not going to be strung along and watch a series of videos to unveil the "mystery" like all their marketing executives want us to do ;)

I guess I should mention in 2008 I was 14 and I am girl. 14 year old girls were kind of Freds target audience. I have also been very bored all week with no work, school and my friends are all busy. So I have nothing better to do then watch Fred and try to figure out whats going on. But I'm sure watching Fred is all the folks at "Yuksung" want us to do anyways.
