What youtube videos can be monetized?

hey guys what videos can I monetize on my channel? can I do gameplays and videos with royalty free music on them?
 
The people that make the game can claim your videos so basically you cannot monetize them, as far as I know you can monetize most indie game makers such as minecraft. Royalty free music is okay to monetize on with your gaming videos as long as you give proper recognition to them in your desc.

I forget where I read it, but I'm pretty sure there's an ongoing battle where if you're visually in the video and commentating, it's fair game because it's now a modified version of your own work or something.

When you say "visually" in the video, as in a facecam/green screen? and commentating is pretty much the same thing as lets playing and those can be claimed for the faintest sound of music in a game session or cut scene

Yeah facecam.

And yeah they can still claim it, but I don't think it happens too often, aside from Nintendo. He could monetize it anyways and just hope for the best.

Yeah just hope for the best lol usually when a 3rd party claims your video they will not file a strike against you, just claim the monetization

The company that owns the game can claim monetization on a certain video if they have the rights to it. Basically, any future earnings from said video will go to them instead of you.

Oh okay you just claim the views like they did with the gangdum style vids. He got the money and they got the views.
