What was your rut buster?

I've Got It
Has anyone else gone through periods of growth followed by no growth whatsoever? I'm in one of those periods of no growth myself, and was wondering what you did to break yourself out of these ruts when you found yourself in them? Thanks for the inspiration!

I had a feeling where it felt like I was going backwards a couple of weeks ago! I just try to work through them, every new video brings another opportunity to be seen and I don't think there's anything to be gained by letting your subs know.

Keep going! Low periods happen, but if they're not happening for extended periods of time (several months), then it's probably just the regular fluctuations of YouTube. I think this kind of thing can cause creators to panic and either double-down on uploading, burning themselves out, or give up, losing their audience completely.

Thanks for the responses! I already had the mindset to keep making content, but funny thing is I was thinking about upping the amount haha, and that almost certainly would have lead to burnout, so thanks for the heads up.

I haven't had the chance to experience it yet, but I can't imagine it's much fun. I really like xingcat's advice on keep pushing through. I can definitely imagine how tough it could be to not be seeing growth, because when it's happening it feels so good! Hope you break your slump soon, and keep doing what you love!

I had considered trying to post daily to try and make more progress but having to also work on channel art myself etc, I know I would get stressed out.
So now I've decided to just continue as I have so far and hope it gets better ^^

It's my regular growth. Nothing for weeks, a few subs in a week, then back to nothing. I'm used to it, so I just go on as usual.

I was feeling the same way and thinking I should make more videos and felt stressed out about what new videos to make. I've just kind of laid low for several days working on other video stuff. I didn't promote (so no new subs for several days), but I kind of needed a mini break. I might not post a video this week. YouTube is a marathon not a sprint.

There is nothing you can really do. It just happens. I tend to ignore the numbers for the most part. It is not fun seeing them slow or fall. That is why I focus most of my energy on creating the best content I can create and loving (for the most part) the entire process, from filming to editing to posting the final product.

That's an awesome attitude to have. You make a great point.
