What the hey?!

OK, on my second upload, it let me make all the changes that I wanted but once I hit SAVE, all options disappear. My main concern is getting the thumbnail image saved.

Yeah, it's now a "one shot" save during the upload, but after processing, you can still go back and make further changes.

Well, if you press "Done" then it's because you're actually...well...done so you wouldn't need the box anymore.

If it concerns you so much, just go back to your Video Manager (on another tab, mind you) and edit from there.

@ShiftHappens

It's 'Save', not 'Done'. Save as if 'save the information that I changed'. But yes, I can edit through Video Manager but it still hasn't updated the thumbnail image shown in my Video Manager list. Hopefully, by the time it goes live, it sends the correct image to subscribers.

That usually happens. It happened to me a while back where it took a few hours to change the thumbnail.

Just happened to me right now, I had to cancel the upload in order to bring back the screen to change stuff... It's moments like these I need the willy wonka meme to ask people who convenient they think Google is making YouTube. xD I don't understand how they thought making a permanent save while uploading was a good idea. -.- This also means you're screwed for thumbnails if you hit done. Somtimes I liked to make little changes as the uploads were going. I like the new look but not the new function.
It's been like this a couple months.
For you maybe, it only just changed for me today.

It actually does say done just so you're aware but still it's stupid nontheless, I don't think people realise that it's going to cause problems for the people who upload stuff and let it auto publish as soon as it's done, if you hit "done" by accident you're screwed or if you made 1 mistake you have to wait till it's uploaded and published to fix everything and even change the thumbnail. Maybe they're going to make thumbnails instantly update? lol. I fortunately post everything in private but the thumbnails are an issue for me as I do my thumbnails the next day after uploading overnight.

I'm uploading tomorrow's video, did a couple quick changes, clicked save, then everything minimized to just this on the screen. Now I have to wait until it's finished uploading to make the rest of my changes. Has this happened to you before?

Only uploaded on the 10th, so I haven't noticed yet.
I'm not too fussed though...

After 5 hours, the thumbnail hadn't changed in my Video Manager but it was time to go to bed. By the time the video went live, about 8 hours after upload, my suggested thumbnail did get updated/used.

Now that I know there is a new system, I will adapt. While the video is rendering, I will type all of the description information ahead of time on a notepad document. Then I will copy and paste everything and be sure to have the thumbnail image ready before clicking the save button.
