What the heck, disliked already?

This is true abotu drawing attention to it. Just confirming that I was not alone in this and others have had it, that said, I have always felt that Youtube should introduce a system where in order to Thumbs Down a video, you HAVE to give a reason why you don't like it, to prevent abuse of the system.
Why? Why does someone have to give a reason? It's called a dislike button for a reason. Obviously the didn't like the video, or they don't like you.

If you don't like to get dislikes, turn off ratings. It honestly isn't a big deal, and complaining/bringing attention to it will do nothing but encourage more people to do it.

If someone dislikes without even watching the video...not even worth a thought. At least if they're watching the whole video and they don't like it they gave it a chance.
I wouldn't worry about it.

You're only half right there. You're being way too trusting. If it's true and it was disliked 30 seconds after it was uploaded, then your point is irrelevant, since they "obviously didn't like the video". And what kind of rational is "they don't like you"? However, I don't think giving a reason will help, since most people will write some stupid answer anyway. It's a flawed system, but it's really not possible to make it better than it already is. And turning off ratings isn't the best idea, since sometimes it's nice to get genuine feedback, especially for bigger YouTube videos.

There's always that person that dislikes your video. No matter what you make on YouTube, there will always be people who:
  • dislike your video for any number of reason
  • dislike you, for any reason as well
When you put something out to the public, there will be people who like and dislike. One dislike of malice shouldn't be anything to worry about. You should be worried if your like/dislike bar looks like a light saber and i'm talking about Darth Vader's light saber, not Yoda's.

There is no such thing as bad publicity: both likes and dislikes signal Youtube's indexing services that the video is generating discussion, and discussion is good because it means the viewers are engaged (even if negatively), and engaged viewers are good because it means they're watching the video, staying on Youtube and likely to click an ad.

A video with 1,000 views, 0 likes and 500 dislikes will be rated (much) higher than the same video with 0 likes and dislikes. So, celebrate your haters, for they have bumped you up in the ranks of Youtube :)

(What you should really be worried about is your viewer retention, not number of dislikes, so check to see how that looks.)

I did a test where I had a video unlisted. It was unlisted but I had a public video link to it in an annotation. So for those that took the time to watch the public video, they got a bonus. They got to see an unlisted video.

The unlisted video never got any thumbs downs. But as soon as I made the video public, here come the negatives. That tells me that there could be people subscribed who only want to thumbs-down my videos. Because the faithful viewers who are subscribers and watched the original public video to the end, they never thumbed-down the unlisted video.

I received my first dislike recently and it was on my most viewed video. I was upset at first, thinking "WTF, this one?? But.. but.. they love this one ;__; " but then I realized, due to it being my more popular video, it is pulling others in! So SOMETHING is working with getting my content out there, and not everyone will like it, but the fact remains that people are coming and checking me out. I had to force myself to shrug it off and keep doing what I love to do :3

Good points about publicity. Also about people subscribing just to dislike. It reminds me that that Markiplier always has about the same number of people disliking each of his videos which does raise several questions but now it is clear, some are subscribed just to thumbs down his videos.
