What software do you guys use to create banners and backgrounds?

Oh wow I'd love to use Photoshop but I don't think my budget would stretch that far! So I use Pixelmator Maybe one day will upgrade.

Adobe Creative Cloud Will cost around £18/month for Photoshop (automatically kept up to date with latest version) and you get to store all your work on their servers so you can access it anywhere.
